My awesome blog!

Kia ora,

For reading this week I’ve identified what I have been learning about we had to design a chair that would be beneficial for your overall health. We also learnt that schools have started to experiment with kids studying in the classroom standing up.

Here are 7 benefits of good posture:

  • Increased Confidence.
  • More Energy.
  • Greater Self-Esteem and Better Mood.
  • Easier Breathing.
  • Less Frequent Headaches.
  • Reduced Risk of Injury.
  • Boosted Productivity

People that work sitting down at a desk all day with limited exercise have developed more illness than people who work standing up or people that work with lots of exercise like builders and factory workers.

Here is my slideshow!

did you know good posture can help with sleep as well?

Peace blog

How can we be Champions of Peace Blog Post

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions of Peace’.

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are a dove with an olive branch fire.

These symbols represent peace because it was a dove which returned to Noah’s ark with an olive branch to show the flood was over.

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because it is a dove in the Pentecost fire.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Nelson Mandela I thought this person was a champion of peace because he helped bring equality to the world.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.

I enjoyed learning about peace because it helped me think more about peace.

I learnt that being a peace maker is great and that it will lift the mood of people around and yourself.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by helping other people.

Are you a peacemaker?

My Amazing maths

Kia ora, For maths this week we had started a new unit called geometry which is a branch of maths which is about shapes and lines symmetry, symmetry are shapes that have the exact same pattern on both sides.

This task was a very simple task and i didn’t mind doing it cause it was easy

Do you like Geometry

Awesome Reading!

Kia ora this week for reading we have been Reading boot Camp and this story was. About a man named Joey and his niece Lydia and his dark sad past about his criminal record and his past with gangs and cops and alcohol and drugs. The book mentions his relationship with his family and friends. His girlfriend who also broke up with him. he also tries to turn his life around.

Joey was a gang member who grew up in the hood surrounded by the wrong kind of people. One day he was walking down an alley and his friends were talking to some gang members and he walked over towards them and they offered him to join this gang so he thought about it. And after minutes upon minutes of thinking he said yes. Then one day he got a call from his gang and they told him to get to the block real quick so he ran and ran and finally got there. Then they told him that a rival gang shot their gang member so they got their gear and span back and started shooting them GRAHH!! GRAH!! And killed that entire gang.

Our task was to make a google drawing and fill in the boxes with what you think the most important ideas of the text were. Write about the authors purpose to write this book. Our 3rd task was to Using evidence from the text, discuss the relationships of the characters in the text.

What was your favourite part of this blog?

my awesome Poems

Over the first few weeks of Term 3 we have been reading and writing all different types of poetry. Please enjoy reading my poetry.

It surprised me that the autobiographical poem was so fun to write and it was very long and it was fun to write about my friends and my self.

I learned that a limerick is a humorous five-line poem with a distinctive rhyme scheme and a bouncy rhythm.

I discovered that a list poem is a poetic form that presents ideas, images, or emotions through a series of items or descriptions. It was interesting to write this poem because it was very simple and the poem was very fun to write.

Which poem stood out to you the most and why?

Science blog post

This term we have started science. Out of the 2 sessions we had over the past 2 weeks we had done four experiments and 3/4 of our experiments have worked. Today I will be talking about an experiment that I did in our second session.

Before conducting my experiment. I had to take a educated guess also known as a hypothesis. I assumed that the experiment would fail because the experiment didn’t look well made therefore my hypothesis was that the experiment would not work.

The experiment was the buzzer test which used copper, zinc, salt, water and some wires with clips. The way we knew that it worked was that you could hear a squealing noise. After attaching the copper, zinc, nails to the beaker’s sides, we filled it with water and added a large spoonful of salt. In the beginning we used the same type of metal and it didn’t work so we tried another kind of metal and it worked. The battery attached to the cable started buzzing as a result of this activity. It worked we were quite happy that our experiments worked and would love to do another.

All materials used:

  • Zinc
  • Salt
  • Copper
  • Water
  • Wires
  • Clips
  • Beaker

The experiment also looked like this:

My hypothesis was incorrect because I thought that the experiment was not going to work and the reason it did was because we had followed the instructions well.

Have you ever done a science experiment and what do you think about this one?

maths

Kia ora this week for maths we spun a wheel 45 times to see which food would come out on top out of sausage sizzle, porridge, Hot chocolate, Hotcakes. i was surprised to see That sausage sizzle got landed on the most, The second was porridge and hot cakes and the least was hot chocolate. I thought that Hot cakes would be chosen the most.

what did you think would of got chosen the most?

Reading Synthesising Task

This week for reading we had to synthesise information after we read a story called the “It’s the end of the world, said the cat”. It was about a boy named Raff who came across a glowing egg. If he touched the egg the world ended if he didn’t the world ended.

would you touch thee glowing egg?
